  1. I enjoy following your thoughts and experiences with teaching physics labs.

    On the concept of errors, I found it helpful to move students away from the term “error” and suggest they are unaccounted “influences” on the experiment. I find some students will then, even on their own, begin to think of the effect of these influences as opposed to simply listing possible errors.

      • With all topics to teach in first year Physics lab, I find it a bit much to require students quantify influences (errors) on the experiment (although perhaps asking to identify if systematic or random might be a way to go)
